Why a Miracle from So Long Ago Still Stirs Hearts Today?

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

On Easter Sunday, ancient hymns like this one ring out in churches all over the world as we are all invited to join the angels and saints in their songs of exultation. Life has conquered death! Jesus Christ is risen! All heaven rejoices!

As we sing these songs—so many of which are both ancient and still full of joy and hope—let’s go to Jesus and ask him to open our minds and our hearts. Let’s ask him to deepen our understanding of his resurrection and to give us a greater grasp of the victory he has won for us.
